The most probable cause of global collapse is an engineered pandemic caused by a synthetic pathogen, resulting from the intersection of rapid biotechnological advancement and geopolitical instability. By 2026, the democratization of tools such as CRISPR and AI-driven protein folding prediction has significantly lowered the barrier to entry for creating or modifying biological agents.
